I am still working thru this book, but, so far, it has the BEST explanation of hormonal imbalances of any book I have read and tried to learn from. Dr. Sara also lists the Combinations of imbalances and the combinations she sees most frequently, which makes the information much more accurate and less confusing than info I have read elsewhere. Such as how one could have high cortisol and low cortisol, even in the same 24 hour period. How things do not exist in a vacuum, but one imbalance causes an imbalance in another system, so one needs to address them together. She uses real info about the hormonal systems which is technical, yet understandable by the reader.I jumped ahead (as she recommends if the reader is impatient, or desperate, as myself) and began using some of her suggestions. As she reminds us, these things take awhile - up to 6 weeks for changes to be seen. I would say that I noticed a distinct difference after about 2 weeks. And I seem to be learning to control the ups and downs. Rather than the experimentation I have done myself that has been more of a shot in the dark, I can see a real pathway out of the woods. Yet she also reminds the reader that the tendancy toward that imbalance, for genetic reasons, etc., will probably always be there, so one must keep an eye on things. (She uses herself as an example.)I like very much that she is a woman writing about womens' problems, and that she herself had some of these problems and was able to take care of them. I have nothing against male doctors treating women, but for some of the issues we may have, a man cannot possibly understand since he does not have anywhere near the same bodily experiences that another woman would have.In one of her explanations of hormones she mentions, beyond the fluctuations that women have, the specific declines of hormones that women experience over their lives, but that men do not. This makes sense and makes the picture more clear.Since she is integrating allopathic and alternative medicine - and has used and benefited herself and with her patients by this method - I think she has a great basis of information and knowledge, and a conservative best-of-both-worlds approach. I highly recommend this book and the understanding it gives as well as her recommendations. And one should not just cheat and look in the index (I have done that before myself with other books on different topics) one really should read the explanations so as to understand the problems she addresses.
