I thoroughly, completely, enjoyed this very insider account of living in down-on-its-luck Hollywood PG (pre-gentrification), mostly in the 80s and 90s-usually broke but always embracing life, rock and roll, spiritualism, sex, music and plenty of colorful characters. There's no shortage of recognizable names but only because those people were her friends or slept on her floor (or in her bed). Her experiences with the supernatural started at an early age and throughout her life impossible to deny "extreme" coincidences, sightings and occurrences have led her to embrace metaphysics and the occult in the most charming and open minded way. Pleasant was also at the center of the early punk scene in LA and, to me, those recollections were the most interesting parts of the book. The names and bands we now have on pedestals (or gravestones) were all starting out. The book is bursting with almost giddy enthusiasm and optimism for living a full-throttled life. Pleasant Gehman's a genuine life-lover, you'll enjoy the ride.
