Description
Product Description This recording was uncovered at a Minneapolis hospital/mental treatment center of three boys that like to run naked (see photo). All the songs are twisted parodies of popular songs interpreted by these three patients. This CD is an effort to raise money to recoup medical costs for the Stardusters' parents and try to keep the boys under constant medical supervision (the only way we could get the relatives to agree to release the songs). Unfortunately for the world of music, touring is nearly impossible for the boys since they would require nurses to continually clothe, feed, and give them sponge baths. Review "Can I get a tape of the Sonic Youth parody show you guys played?" -- Thurston Moore"Maybe we can warm up for you again sometime." -- Singer for Veruca Salt after they warmed up at the Uptown Bar"Not only are these guys funny, but they're hilarious too!" -- Minneapolis City Pages From the Label "Lip-smacking parody!" About the Artist Vinnie & the Stardsters met at the Nicollet Child Guidance Center when undergoing treatment for various debilitating mental illnesses. John's schizophrenia combined with Tourette's Syndrome sometimes leads to shocking profanity and then what he describes as a "moral hangover." Through years of treatment, John has been able to transform his expletives into music. Nick's mantra is "I'm not drunk, I have cerebral palsy" since this prenatal birth defect often causes him to flail his arms and legs uncontrollably, especially when listening to the rhumba. Happily, he turned out to be a natural drummer, and the hospital staff is pleasantly surprised that playing drums interrupts his incessant playing with himself. Eric is what is popularly called and "idiot savant," giving him the memory of a Cray computer but the intelligence of a 3 year old. While thought to be a child prodigy since he could instantly transpose an entire orchestra score to guitar, his parents soon feared the worst when they caught him memorizing MTC bus schedules. Eric can remember the most minute details of the band's history and has chronicled them im an often-disturbing comic book. Sadly, he can hardly feed himself. BAND_MEMBERS: John T. It has been said that today's culture is 'a race to the bottom'. Well, Vinnie wins this race hands down. There are many bands that started entire genre's of music. The band Nirvana comes to mind. Vinnie doesn't come to mind yet. Yet. Vinnie does not quite turn the tide of crappy RIAA music in this country, but dammit, they're trying. And that is much more than you or I are doing. I forget what my point is, but that IS the point, this band makes you forget what you were thinking about, and that's allright in my book.
