About the Artist The fifth child of globe-hopping parents, Chris Alastair (say "allister") grew up singing and playing brass instruments in musical theater, jazz bands, and orchestras. Encouraged by his elder singer/song-writer brothers, he switched to guitar in college, where he co-founded a rock band, directed an a cappella vocal group, and began writing songs. After moving to Washington, D.C., to intern with Greenpeace magazine and then-Rolling Stone contributing editor Mike Sager, he finally Got the Call. He borrowed Sager's guitar, released a CD, and has built a steady following as both a solo performer and band leader. Now based in New York City, Chris regularly plays CB's Gallery and other listening rooms (he's also played Webster Hall, the Wetlands, the Knitting Factory, the Lion's Den, and Hotel Galvez).
